Coach Moni’s U13 Boys returned from the Midwest Regional(II) Championships in Appleton, WI with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss against 4 State Cup Champions.
The U13 Crew were the only undefeated and untied team in pool play, going 3-0-0. They defeated:
Omaha FC Elite (NE) 5-2 on Saturday,
Millennium Heat (IN) 3-0 on Sunday,
DASC Black (SD) 6-1 on Monday.
This was quite an accomplishment considering the Crew boys were the only wild card team in the tournament.
By winning their pool they drew the Chicago Magic in the semifinals. The Magic are currently the 3rd ranked team in the nation, according to the recent National Soccer Rankings. The game turned out to be quite a battle. After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, the Crew boys stormed back to tie the game 2-2. Then..... took the lead only to have their 3rd goal taken away on a very questionable offside ruling. The Magic countered again and broke the tie, taking a 3-2 lead. With little time remaining the Crew had to add attackers up top and take some chances which led to another score by the Magic, icing the game 4-2 and sending them to the finals.
Congratulations to Coach Moni and to the Crew U13 boys for an outstanding season.
