Grand
Rapids Crew Juniors History
Even though our name is new, the two clubs joining forces (GRASA/GVPSC)
to establish the premier youth player development program in Major League
Soccer along with the Columbus Crew are some of the oldest in West Michigan
. GRASA was founded in 1990 and was the first select youth club in the
city. GVPSC was established in 1996 as Grand Valley Premier. It was the
first -- and, until 2005, the only -- premier club sponsored by the Grand
Valley Soccer Association.
Both clubs have helped thousands of young men
and women grow in the game – and in life – by providing
exceptional training and playing opportunities. In the last decade,
many of our players have used our clubs as a springboard to a successful
high school and college careers. Examples of this would be The 2005
Michigan Player of the Year, Jake Stacy (GRASA/GVP and Forest Hills
Central), and Kevin VandenBerg (Georgetown Rangers/GVP and Hudsonville).
Many of our players have earned college scholarships and other honors,
while some of our alumni have gone on to play professionally.
